Farmers’ markets are a vibrant and essential part of the Slate Valley/ Lakes region surrounding the Panorama—providing us with access to fresh, locally grown produce and handmade goods, while supporting small-scale farmers and artisans in New York and Vermont. If you’re planning a visit to the Panorama Motel, you’re in luck—there are several farmers’ markets near us where you can shop for a variety of goods and connect with local producers.

Yes—you can drive, of course, but if you’re wishing for a brisk walk to go with your fresh fruit, the popular and growing Poultney Farmers’ Market (aka Lakes Region Farmers’ Market) is only about 1 1/2 miles from the Panorama Motel. Running along Main Street in Poultney, VT, this market features a variety of vendors selling everything from fresh produce to baked goods to handmade crafts. Open 9 am to 2 pm on Thursday mornings from late June until early October, the Lakes Region Farmers’ Market is a great place to support local farmers and artisans. (Special note: The Farmers’ Market also organizes a Holiday Craft Fair every year in late November, that is not to be missed for unique and precious holiday gifts that everyone on your list will cherish!)

For a taste of small-town charm and community spirit, consider visiting the Fair Haven Farmers’ Market in Fair Haven, VT. This market takes place from 3–6 pm on Thursdays from June to mid-October and features a mix of vendors offering fresh produce, baked goods, artisanal products, and more. With live music, food trucks, and special events, the Fair Haven Farmers’ Market is a lively and vibrant gathering place for locals and visitors alike.

Another popular farmers’ market near the Panorama is the Rutland Farmers’ Market, located in nearby Rutland, VT. This market features a diverse array of vendors selling fresh produce, meats, cheeses, baked goods, and artisanal products. The outdoor market is open on Saturdays, 9 am to 2 pm from mid-May to October at Merchants’ Row, just outside of the Rutland Walmart, with a mid-week market in the same location on Wednesdays, 1–5 pm, June through mid-October; the winter indoor market is held on Saturdays, 10 am to 2 pm at the Franklin Conference Center, in the Howe Center at One Scale Ave, Suite 92 in Rutland, from November to mid-May.

The Rutland Farmers’ Market is a bustling hub of activity where you can stock up on seasonal fruits and vegetables, chat with farmers and producers, and support the local food economy.

In summer they’re located outdoors, at the South Street Pavilion in central Glens Falls, Saturdays from 8 am to noon—just a few steps from many other delightful shops you may want to visit; the winter indoor market runs November through April, on Saturdays from 9 am to noon, at the Aviation Mall in next-town Queensbury, NY. This market features a curated selection of vendors selling organic produce, artisanal foods, coffees, and handmade goods, and often has music and entertainment as well! The wide variety of goods and lots of additional shopping nearby in both summer and winter, makes the Glens Falls Farmers’ Market a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists.
